Community Health Care Committee
Community Health Care Services Committee
The Municipality of the Town of Fort Erie is committed to recruiting and retaining quality physicians for our community. Fort Erie is actively seeking family physicians to join the existing medical community. We are in need of family physicians because of continued growth in our practices and the retirement of several physicians in the coming years. Succession planning is critical to ensure our citizens have continued access to robust primary care if and when their physician chooses to retire.
We are offering an exciting, lucrative incentive package for new physicians coming into the community, and will ensure your arrival is as smooth as possible. Relocation expenses are included as part of our exciting package. We would be happy to showcase our community and the surrounding attractions on a site visit that we will arrange and fund for you and your spouse.
We have an enthusiastic medical staff that is eager to welcome students for elective rotations or core family medicine rotations. We are involved in teaching through the Niagara Campus of the DeGroote Medical School at McMaster University. We also participate with the Rural Ontario Medical Program.
Please contact the Town of Fort Erie’s Community Health Care Services Coordinator at the number listed below to further discuss exciting employment and lifestyle opportunities for physicians and other health care providers in our community.

Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP)
The Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP) coordinates medical rotations for future physicians from the six medical universities in Ontario. Located in South-Central Ontario, our mission is to alleviate the burden on communities caused by the nation-wide physician distribution problem and create learning opportunities outside the academic centres and into communities. Health Care Connect
Health Care Connect refers Ontarians who don't have a physician to a family health care provider who may be accepting new patients.
Unattached patients can call or go online to ontario.ca/healthcareconnect to register with the program. To successfully register, unattached patients must have a valid OHIP card and complete a health questionnaire to determine their need for family health care services. Priority is given to individuals who have greater health needs.
Once registered, program participants are assigned to a Care Connector.
Care Connectors, who are nurses employed by Community Care Access Centres, will work with family physicians and nurse practitioners who are accepting new patients.
Once an available provider is found, Health Care Connect will give the patient the provider's practice information to schedule their first appointment.
Health Care Connect sends providers a letter to inform them when their referral information has been passed on to a patient.
