Bridgeburg Station Downtown Business Improvement Area Board of Management

By-law No. 183-07 BIA Operating Guidelines

Purpose: A Business Improvement Association allows local business people and property owners to join together, and, with the support of the municipality, organize, finance and carry out physical improvement and promote economic development in their district. The local municipality is the body responsible for establishing and approving the budget of the B.I.A.

Duties and Responsibilities: To improve, beautify and maintain the municipal lands, buildings and structures in the Bridgeburg Station Downtown B.I.A. Promote the area as a business or shopping area and develop and implement a streetscape and downtown revitalization program.

Composition: 8 citizen appointees and 1 Member of Council

Meeting Schedule: Meet every 3rd Thursday of the month except July & August

Other Comments:
The Bridgeburg Station Downtown B.I.A. Responsibilities include:

  • Marketing, planning, research and development, promotions and special events
  • Business recruitment of new property owners and tenants
  • Streetscape improvements: beautification, street furniture, signage, lighting, banners etc., Season Decorating
  • Develop and execute the town/property owners Bridgeburg Station Façade Improvement Grant Program
  • Maintain an effective Business Watch Program
  • Increase community interest and pride in the district
  • Foster on-going co-operation among members
  • Cultivate lines of communication between B.I.A. members, town council, and municipal staff
  • Increase cost savings to the members through improved integration of capital funding and promotional activities
