Canada Community Building Fund


As of June 29, 2021, the Federal Gas Tax Fund has been renamed the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF). This name change better reflects the program’s evolution over time and will not alter or modify the objectives or requirements of the program.

In 2005, the Town of Fort Erie entered into an agreement with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), which includes the specific provisions for the utilization of the transfer of federal gas tax.  The agreement has been extended to 2023 by signing the Administrative Agreement which took effect on April 1, 2014.  Federal gas tax funds must be used for environmentally sustainable infrastructure.

As part of the agreement, all municipalities are required to report to AMO by March 31 of each year on the use of the funds for the previous year and the outcomes achieved.
