Civil Marriages

Getting Married at Town Hall - TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED UNTIL 2019

You can now exchange your wedding vows at Town Hall.  A simple, civil marriage ceremony can be conducted by the Town Clerk – or designate – in Council Chambers.  This service is available Monday through Friday (except statutory holidays) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.   Due to the civil nature of the service, the Clerk has no authority to perform ceremonies of a religious nature.

We can perform same day service, however, we suggest that you prearrange a date to discuss and personalize your ceremony.  To make arrangements or receive information regarding requirements prior to your Civil Service please call us at 905-871-1600 or use this Contact Us link

By prior arrangement, ceremonies may be held at other municipal spaces such as the outdoor gazebo at Town Hall, Leisureplex, Arena or parklands.  You may also make arrangements with the Town Clerk or designate for a date, time and off-site location for your ceremony, depending on availability.A couple in the council chamber after being married

The fee for the ceremony is $300 (including HST) and does not include the Marriage Licence which is a separate charge of $130.  All fees must be received prior to the Civil Marriage Ceremony and can be paid with cash or debit.
