Crystal Ridge Park Improvements
Crystal Ridge Park is located in Crystal Beach, and is classified as one of four Community Parks within Fort Erie. It serves the neighbourhoods of Crystal Beach, Ridgeway, and Thunder Bay. The park was originally opened to the public in the 1960s, is approximately 9.6 hectares in size, and contains Fort Erie’s only municipal football field, an informal baseball diamond, a pavilion, a playground, a splashpad and over 3 hectares of wooded area complete with recreation trails.
With several outdated park amenities, this Park is need of renovation to ensure it meets the current needs of the community. In 2016, the Town commissioned the preparation of a Park Master Plan, which was prepared by Dillon Consulting. Through an extensive public consultation process, the Crystal Ridge Park Master Plan was developed and approved by Council in 2017.
Phase 1 and 2 improvements are complete and open to the public. Phase 1 improvements include a pavilion, multi-use courts, and senior and junior playgrounds. Phase 2 improvements include a 4-court pickleball facility, a 'large dog' park, a 'small dog' park and parking lot improvements. Phase 3 improvements will include a nature play and storytelling area, and nature trail improvements.
