Crystal Ridge Park Improvements

Crystal Ridge Park is located in Crystal Beach, and is classified as one of four Community Parks within Fort Erie. It serves the neighbourhoods of Crystal Beach, Ridgeway, and Thunder Bay. The park was originally opened to the public in the 1960s, is approximately 9.6 hectares in size, and contains Fort Erie’s only municipal football field, an informal baseball diamond, a pavilion, a playground, a splashpad and over 3 hectares of wooded area complete with recreation trails.

With several outdated park amenities, this Park is need of renovation to ensure it meets the current needs of the community. In 2016, the Town commissioned the preparation of a Park Master Plan, which was prepared by Dillon Consulting. Through an extensive public consultation process, the Crystal Ridge Park Master Plan was developed and approved by Council in 2017.

Through the 2018 Budget, funding was allocated to commence construction of Phase 1 of the project. Phase 1 improvements include the installation of a pavilion, multi-use and tennis courts, a senior playground and a junior playground. Phase 2 improvements will include the installation of pickelball courts, a large dog park, a small dog park and parking lot improvements. Phase 3 improvements will include renovation of the sports field, a nature play and storytelling area, and nature trail improvements.

Construction Update: Phase 1 construction commenced in June 2018, with completion anticipated by the end of October.
