Spears Park

Spears Park is a new park that will be developed in the Spears Estates subdivision.

The Spears High-Pointe Neighbourhood Plan identifies the need for a neighbourhood park at the corner of Meadowood and Kerby Streets, to serve the local community. Neighbourhood Parks form the foundation of the Town’s park system, providing passive and active recreational opportunities within walking/cycling distance of local residents.

The design and construction of this .18 hectare (.45 acre) Neighbourhood Park was approved by Council through the 2020 budget process. SHIFT Landscape Architecture has been retained to develop a master plan for the park, which will guide future construction. The Park Master Plan will be developed based upon the Town’s Neighbourhood Park standards, site conditions, applicable legislation and in consultation with the community. Although a small park, it could include such amenities as a playground for a variety of age groups, a shade structure, gathering space, open green space, landscaping and shade trees, pathways and seating – depending on the priorities of the community.

Although we are currently unable to meet with the community in person, due to COVID19 restrictions, we invite you to view preliminary information on the park design and development, and to share your ideas and vision for the park either by email or by taking the survey below. Your feedback will guide us in further refining the park concepts. When it is safe to do so, we will invite you to a public open house to discuss the refined park concepts more thoroughly.
