Cannabis Legislation and Policy Amendments to Official Plan, Zoning By-law and Site Plan Control By-law

A statutory Public Meeting is scheduled for September 12, 2022 in Council Chambers at Town Hall. The meeting welcomes input regarding the proposed Official Plan, Zoning By-Law, and Site Plan Control By-Law amendments. The purpose of these amendments is to regulate commercial and medical cannabis growing operations in the Town of Fort Erie, and include:
·        Updated definitions for commercial and medical cannabis operations
·        Provisions that the use be permitted indoors only and emit no odour
·        Other setback and study requirements to regulate the use

To Participate:
Input on any proposed matter is welcome and encouraged. You can provide input by speaking at the statutory public meeting or by making a written submission to the Town. Please note, unless you do one of the following, you may not be able to appeal the decision later.

Residents can participate in the Council meeting in person in Council Chambers, OR virtually via Zoom (audio/video via web or by telephone). To participate as a speaker at the Public Meeting using the Zoom platform, contact cmillar@forterie.ca to receive information on how to join the meeting and where the link will be made available. Public Meeting
Meeting was held virtually and at Town Hall

You can participate and watch the virtual meetings in three different ways:

1. Participate in the Live Webinar Meeting (audio and video) by clicking the Join Meeting link.
2. Watch the meeting (for those that do not wish to speak) via  YouTube
3. Participate in the Meeting by Telephone by calling one of the following numbers:

Enter in the webinar ID, password and press the "#" key when asked for a participant number.

If you would like to raise your hand during the meeting press *9 on your telephone. Press *9 again to lower your hand.

** Links and meeting information will be available at least 60 minutes prior to the meeting start time. Participants are encouraged to enter the meeting 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting.

You may also send your written comments and questions via e-mail, mail or drop off in the Town drop off box located at Town Hall to the attention of the staff contact referenced above.
