Sustainable, reliable access to local health care
A community …. where all residents have equitable access to comprehensive, community-based, innovative health care and social services
Quality of life and community well-being
A community …. that is welcoming, engaged and inclusive and provides opportunities for everyone
Sustainable and managed growth
A community …. that manages growth responsibly and recognizes existing neighbourhoods by implementing effective planning and policies
Economic prosperity and diversification
A community …. that creates opportunities for economic growth and job creation by maximizing our strategic location and tourism potential.
Environmental and climate change resiliency
A community …. that addresses climate change and the impacts to the natural environment by proactive planning and action.
Comprehensive housing options
A community …. where all residents have access to safe, stable and appropriate housing that is affordable for all ages, abilities and income levels.
“By realizing each of these objectives, Fort Erie will reaffirm its commitment to being a community for everyone,” stated Mayor Redekop. “By each member of Council becoming a champion for one of the six key pillars we will ensure that, in collaboration with staff, we can achieve success. Council members are passionate about the pillar each has chosen and their leadership will be fundamentally important. As Mayor, I will be a champion for all of the pillars. We have adopted an ”all hands are on deck” attitude to ensure that we achieve each of the goals and targets set out in this progressive plan”.
Council Champions are as follows:
Sustainable Reliable Access to Local Health Care: Councillor Joan Christensen
Quality of Life and Community Well-Being: Councillor Tom Lewis
Sustainable and Managed Growth: Councillor Nick Dubanow

Staff champions will also work very closely with their Council counterpart on the direction of each pillar and the budget process will also consider how each initiative can move forward in the most cost-effective way. A new webpage has also been created that will contain a dashboard to show the status of each key pillar as the Plan is put into action”.
