The Town of Fort Erie places a high priority on the conservation of the natural environment and regulates tree cutting within woodlands that are between 0.5 and 1 hectare in size as per By-law No. 60-04. The Town is currently undertaking a review of By-law No. 60-04.
Before you remove a tree within a woodland or an Environmental Conservation Overlay Zone, please contact the Town to understand your obligations under the By-law.

Residents should note that trees may also be regulated under the Niagara Region Woodland Conservation By-law No. 2020-79 for Woodlands over 1 hectare in size. Additionally, approvals and/or permits from Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) may be required if your property falls within NPCA Regulated Lands.
Take notice that the Council of the Town of Fort Erie will hold an Open House regarding the amendment to By-Law No. 60-04 – A By-Law to Regulate the Destruction, Injury and Harvesting of Trees in The Town of Fort Erie.
