TAKE NOTICE that on March 18th, 2019, the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Fort Erie passed By-law 47-2019 under Section 2 of the Development Charges Act, 1997, which imposes Town-wide development charge rates.

What Development Is Subject To Development Charges? |
The charges in the Notice of Passing Development Charges (DC) by-law will apply to all new residential and non-residential development. This excludes industrial development. They are also subject to certain terms, conditions and limited exemptions. A key map is not included in this notice. The Development Charges By-law applies to all lands located within the boundaries of the Town of Fort Erie. There are no industrial development charges in this by-law. |
Why Do We Have Development Charges? |
Town-wide development charges are levied against new development. This is to pay for the increased capital costs related to the provision of such municipal services as:

What Are The Rates And When Do They Take Effect? |
The Development Charges chart sets out the rates applicable throughout the Town. Non-urban area development charge rates get reduced proportionately. You can see these rates by reviewing the Development Charge By-law. Both the residential and non-residential Development Charge rates are in effect as of March 18, 2019. They are subject to phase-in amounts effective September 19, 2019 and March 18, 2020. |
