Public Notice
- Plans are in place to replace and realign damaged sections of the popular recreation trail in Fort Erie
- The trail repairs will begin on Monday, September 8 and the anticipated completion date is Friday, September 26
Fort Erie, ON— As Niagara Parks continues work to implement its shoreline protection strategy pilot and restoration along the Niagara River breakwall in Fort Erie, construction will now begin to repair damaged sections of the Niagara River Recreation Trail between Old Fort Erie and Mather’s Arch. The work is set to begin on Monday, September 8 and is expected to be completed by Friday, September 26.
Temporary Closure of Mather’s Arch Trail Areas
Construction fencing will remain around the perimeter of the work zone, and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area. The section of the Niagara River Recreation Trail along the breakwall will be temporarily closed in sections, allowing the trail to remain as open as possible for public access.
Traffic Considerations
Construction activities may cause motorists to experience minor delays, increased noise levels, and dust. Large trucks and heavy equipment will also frequently enter and exit the work site via the Niagara Parkway.
Niagara Parks appreciates your patience and cooperation as we complete these essential improvements.
