The Point Abino Lighthouse is on the rocky north shore of Lake Erie in Fort Erie. It was constructed in 1917 by the Department of Marine and Fisheries in response to increased traffic at the east end of Lake Erie, located between the high and low water marks on the rocky shoreline of Point Abino.

Since its decommissioning in 1995, the Point Abino Lighthouse was designated as a 'Classified' Heritage Building. In addition, the Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office established it as a National Historic Site and a Classified Federal Building.

The Lighthouse consists of a deck, tower and fog alarm building.

Note: No vehicles or pets will be allowed past the gated area.

Lighthouse tours are currently on hold for the 2026 season.

Point Abino Lighthouse Walk in Site Visits - information and FAQ

Walk in site visits include access to the exterior of the lighthouse only. The distance to the lighthouse is approximately 1.5 kilometres each way, patrons are permitted to walk to the lighthouse and back, vehicles of any kind are not permitted.

Parking is available at 1010 Point Abino Road south, there is a paved parking lot on the north side of the road.

Guests may take photos or videos of the lighthouse. Guests are not permitted to bring alcohol or animals (with the exception of a documented service animal) onto the property. Please refrain from littering.

Guests may access the site anytime within the allotted ticket time, but must be back outside of the gate prior to 6:00 p.m.

Weekday site visits take place between 3:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. weekend visits are from 10:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. Guests are reminded to leave enough time to travel back outside the main gate before 6:00p.m.
