Community Environmental Initiatives

Caring for Our Community and Environment, Together

Fort Erie’s natural environment, our parks, trails, waterways, and neighbourhood green spaces, plays a vital role in our quality of life. These places bring people together, support local wildlife, and help make Fort Erie a healthy, vibrant community.

The Town of Fort Erie is committed to supporting programs and initiatives that protect our environment while encouraging community involvement. Our Green Initiatives bring residents, organizations, and volunteers together to care for the spaces we all share.

Many of the initiatives highlighted on this page align with the Town of Fort Erie’s Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP). The CCAP is a guiding framework that outlines actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance climate resilience, and support sustainable community development. To learn more about the Climate Change Action Plan and view related projects and engagement opportunities, visit the Climate Change Action Plan Let's Talk page.

Environmental stewardship is about more than keeping spaces clean — it’s about creating a community that values sustainability, connection, and shared responsibility.

Through Fort Erie’s Green Initiatives, residents can:

  • Protect local parks, trails, and waterways
  • Reduce litter and environmental damage
  • Support biodiversity and tree health
  • Strengthen neighbourhood pride and social connection
  • Take part in meaningful, hands‑on community action

Small actions, when done together, make a lasting difference.
