Dog Park and On-Leash Areas

Fort Erie offers designated spaces where residents and their pets can enjoy the outdoors together. Dogs are permitted off-leash within designated dog parks and are welcome on-leash (maximum 6 ft./1.8 m leash) on designated pathways, hiking trails, and passive park areas, including the Friendship Trail. Dogs are not permitted on public beaches or in cemeteries.

Off-leash Areas:

The Town currently maintains three designated off-leash dog parks:

  • Lions Sugarbowl Park – 100 Gilmore Road, Fort Erie
  • Crystal Ridge Park – 109 Ridge Road South, Fort Erie
  • Stevensville Mini Park – 2700 Ott Road, Fort Erie

These areas provide dedicated spaces for fenced off-leash recreation in grassy and treed parkland terrain and are open daily from dawn to dusk.

Dog Park Rules:

  • Dog owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
  • Dogs must wear current dog licence and vaccination tags.
  • Owners must remain within sight and maintain voice control of their dogs at all times.
  • Dogs must be supervised by a responsible person while using the off-leash area.

All dogs residing in Fort Erie are required to be licensed. For information on obtaining or renewing a dog licence, please contact the Fort Erie SPCA.
