Town of Fort Erie Council lifts Short-Term Rental Moratorium effective May 8, 2023

FORT ERIE (May 1, 2023) – At the Regular Council meeting held on April 24, 2023,Council passed a resolution to lift the Short-Term Rental (STR) moratorium effectiveMay 8, 2023.
A maximum of 250 Short-term Rental licences can be issued in Fort Erie annually.Given the number of existing licences, there will be approximately 55 remaininglicences available for 2023 which will be subject to the terms of the current By-law:Schedule “13” to Business Licensing By-law No. 217-05, as amended by By-law No.98-2022.
Short-Term Rental licence applications will be accepted online only on a first-come,first-served basis. The online application portal for new applicants will open on Monday,May 8, 2023, starting at 8:30 a.m.(EDT).
Early submissions prior to May 8, 2023, will not be accepted.
The Short-Term Rental Land Use Study is ongoing, and results will be presented toCouncil at an upcoming Regular Council Meeting.
