As of April, 2, 2020, the Government of Ontario closed non-essential businesses, outdoor recreational facilities and has prohibited gatherings of more than five people, in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Fines can be issued for non-compliance. Enforcement of the provincial order is being executed jointly through the Town's municipal law enforcement, regional law enforcement and the Niagara Regional Police Service. Failing to comply with an emergency order carries a fine of $750 per offense, and up to $1,000 for obstructing those attempting to carry out their duties under the Act.
