Seniors Utility Relief Fund

The Town of Fort Erie offers help to seniors who qualify for its Seniors Utility Relief Fund program (SURF). SURF gives seniors an annual $140.00 credit to an active water account. To be eligible for the SURF program, you must:

• Be 65 years of age or older on December 31, 2024
• Receive a Guaranteed Income Supplement under the Old Age Security Act
• Be a Town of Fort Erie property owner and live at the property
• Be a Town of Fort Erie water customer

Applications are available at Town Hall and online. Applications must be submitted between May 1 and October 31 of each year. The applicant must provide Proof of age and receipt of GIS benefits must be provided with the application. The $140.00 credit will be applied to eligible water accounts during November. The credit is not transferable, and there are no cash refunds.
