Watermain Flushing

The Town of Fort Erie's annual water distribution system-flushing program is conducted annually from May to October. The aim of the program is to maintain drinking water quality and increase the capacity of the drinking water system.

During this maintenance activity, some of our customers may experience the following:

• brief periods of discolored water
• limited water pressure
• low volume

Note:

To eliminate discoloured water, once the work is completed, you should go to a basement sink or laundry tub and run the COLD water tap for 5 to 10 minutes until the water runs clear. DO NOT use the hot water during this time as it can pull the discoloured water into your hot water tank.
