Water Meters

The Town of Fort Erie is working on a program to replace water meters with radio frequency (RF) meters. Our annual program selects about 1,000 accounts in the geographic sweep of our municipality.

2024 Meter Exchange Ward 1

Neptune Technology Group has been selected to complete this capital works project and will be sending out appointment notices by June 17th 2024. Installations will begin the week of July 8th 2024.

This is a mandatory program in accordance with By-Law No. 66-2016. The upgrade procedure requires 30-90 minutes to complete, during which time the water will be shut off for a brief period. There is no charge for the meter or the installation. For your convenience, appointments are available Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Radio Frequency Program Information

These new meters will provide accurate and consistent readings. The meter also can identify leakages or backflow events. It can also download a consumption history archive used for analysis and review.

If there is damage to your meter, please get in touch with a licensed plumbing contractor. They can assess the operational integrity of the meter and conduct any necessary repairs.
