As of June 29, 2021, the Federal Gas Tax Fund has been renamed the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF). This name change does not change the objectives or requirements of the program.
In 2005, the Town of Fort Erie entered into an agreement with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO). This agreement includes specific provisions for utilizing the transfer of federal gas tax. The agreement has been extended to 2023 by signing the Administrative Agreement, which took effect on April 1, 2014. Federal gas tax funds must be used for environmentally sustainable infrastructure.
All municipalities must report to AMO by March 31 each year as part of the agreement The report is on the use of the funds for the previous year and the outcomes achieved.
